Premier Chef d’oeuvre de mon frere.

Une grande oeuvre accomplie durant les mois qui ont precede l’Independance du Maroc et intitulee , bien sur

“L’Independance du Maroc”

Mon frere avait tout juste 17 ans.

First Masterpiece of the late and great artist DAIRAC, my late brother..

This creation was initiated in the turbulent months that followed the independance of Morocco from France and Spain…therefore Raphael Cohen called it :

” THE INDEPENDANCE OF MOROCCO “.

The artist ” Dairac ” was only 17 years old in 1956 when he started to paint his first and huge masterpiece!

This big oil on canvas was commissioned by some personnalities of the newly independant Moroccan Kingdom and was the central piece of Raphael Cohen first of many exhibits in Rabat, Morocco- Nancy and Paris , France- Bruxelles, Belgium – Sitges, Madrid,Spain- Houston, Texas, USA..

But my brother refused to sell it to the first prime minister of the new independant Morocco , the honorable Ahmed Balafrej because he could not part from it..his attachment to Morocco was in that composition and too many emotions were attached to it..

All those oils, gouaches and intricate compositions on canvas were DAIRAC’s  masterpieces from 1957 to 1980′s

Hello to everyone

To inaugurate the new year I will like to dedicate an entire chapter to the life and works of my late brother the great artist painter Raphael Cohen , well known in Paris, France and other countries under the artist name of DAIRAC

Il est en compagnie de sa femme Arlette ,nee Levy de Rabat, et de leur fille Annie.
A cette epoque ils n’avaient qu’un seul enfant ,Annie nee a Nancy en Aout 1964.

Raphy with his wife Arlette ,maiden name Levy, born in Rabat, Morocco and with them Annie their oldest daughter, at that time their only child..
